Top Calgary music festivals you need on your summer radar

8 April 20263 Mins Read

If there’s one thing that Calgary does right in the summer, it’s music festivals. From high-energy concerts to laid-back outdoor sets, the city comes alive with music all season long. If you’re looking to fill your calendar, here are some of the top music festivals to keep on your radar this summer.

Let’s get into it!

Sled Island isn’t your typical festival, and that’s exactly why people love it. Spread across multiple venues throughout Calgary, it mixes music, art, and comedy into one packed week of events. The lineup leans more indie and unexpected, making it the perfect place to discover your next favourite artist.

When: Thursday, June 18, to Monday, June 22, 2026
Time: Times vary
Where: Hosted across multiple downtown venues
Cost: Starting at $25

This one is for when you want a night that feels a little more effortless. The JazzYYC Summer Festival showcases Calgary’s jazz scene through a mix of intimate shows and performances. It’s relaxed, elevated, and something a little different from your typical festival.

When: Monday, June 22, to Monday, June 29, 2026
Time: Times vary
Where: Locations vary
Cost: Starting at $25

If country music is your thing, Country Thunder is a full weekend you won’t want to miss. We’re talking big stages, big crowds, and even bigger country artists. With major headliners like Kane Brown, Cameron Whitcomb, and Lainey Wilson taking the stage, it’s the perfect way to spend a summer weekend in Calgary.

When: Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026
Time: Times vary
Where: The Confluence – 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.

This festival is basically a 10-day excuse to be outside, listen to music, and have a really good time. Cowboys Music Festival takes over downtown Calgary with nonstop live performances from artists like John Summit and Macklemore that bring the energy all Stampede long.

When: Thursday, July 2, to Sunday, July 12, 2026
Time: Times vary
Where: 1220 9th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Ticket prices vary

Badlands is the kind of place where the energy doesn’t stop. With electronic, hip-hop, and dance music playing under a massive tent in downtown Calgary, it’s the perfect place to lose track of time and fully enjoy the moment.

When: Thursday, July 2, to Sunday, July 12, 2026
Time: Times vary
Where: 725 9th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Ticket prices vary

Set against the backdrop of Prince’s Island Park, the Calgary Folk Music Festival brings together artists from all over the world for four days of live performances, and creates a space where music, community and collaboration all come together.

When: Thursday, July 23 to Sunday, July 26, 2026
Time: Times vary

Calgary is seriously showing off this summer. With so many festivals happening around the city, there’s no shortage of music, energy and everything you need for a good summer. You’ll probably end up going to more than you planned. No complaints, though.
