Expect these pop-up performances and interactive activities around Edmonton LRT stations

14 April 20263 Mins Read

The Edmonton Arts Council has a fun-filled April on schedule, all of which will be taking place in downtown LRT stations.

L-ART-T is the Edmonton Arts Council’s LRT pop-ups, with interactive activities and performances taking over the stations on multiple occasions. Whether it’s getting a poem made just for you, a spoken word performance, or something you’d never expect on an LRT ride, you’re going to have a great time.

What to expect

There are five different experiences happening this month (April), with the first one actually happening today!

Today, on April 14, poetry towers will light up the tunnels of Corona Station from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. If you have time to spare, the arts council recommends sitting with a poet and having a personalized haiku made just for you.

Following this pop-up, there will be another experience on April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. At Churchill Station, the council will be prepping riders with bat info ahead of National Bat Appreciation Day. You can receive artifacts, swag and fun facts, all courtesy of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Not to mention, Dracula will be making an appearance, taking comedic requests and handing out themed candy.

Then, on April 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., MacEwan Station will light up. Once again, you can sit with a poet and have a personalized haiku made for you. If you’re more into participating yourself, you can write a poem for another ride with block poetry on April 23 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Government Centre Station. Here, you can listen to the poets share their powerful spoken word pieces.

The final pop-up will take place on April 25, from noon to 5 p.m. at Corona Station, bringing it all back to where it began. You can celebrate the Edmonton Indie Book Store Extravaganza with spoken word poetry and illuminated towers. It’ll definitely be an afternoon you won’t want to miss.

If you have the time, make your way to an LRT station for one of these spectacular pop-ups. You won’t regret it.

When: Tuesday, April 14, 2026, to Saturday, April 25, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Multiple Edmonton LRT stations
Cost: Free
