Everything you need to know before visiting Lake Louise this summer

14 April 20263 Mins Read

If a summer trip to Lake Louise is on your radar, this is your sign to start planning.

One of Canada’s most iconic destinations is gearing up for another busy season, and shuttle reservations open on Wednesday, April 15, at 8 a.m.

We’re here to provide you with a full guide to everything you need to know before you go, from how to get there to what to expect once you arrive, so you can plan your visit without the stress and focus on enjoying the crystal-clear waters and Rocky Mountain views.

How to get there

There are a couple of ways to get to Lake Louise in summer, including driving and taking the shuttle. The shuttle system is the easiest and most reliable way to visit both Lake Louise and nearby Moraine Lake during the peak season. Shuttle reservations for the 2026 season will open up on Wednesday, April 15. Forty percent of the tickets will drop at 8 a.m., so that’s your best shot at getting your preferred date. The remaining 60 per cent is released on a rolling basis, two days before each trip.

Prices are kept pretty affordable too, with roundtrip tickets at $12.75 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for youth. This year, there’s also an accessible shuttle for visitors with mobility restrictions. If you need it, show your ticket when you get there; no extra booking is required.

You can still drive to the Lake Louise area, but parking fills up incredibly fast during the summer, sometimes as early as sunrise. Once the lots are full, access is restricted for the day.

Once you’re there, there are so many things to do that it’s easy to spend the whole day exploring. Canoeing across the bright blue water is one of Canada’s most iconic experiences, and the view from the lake is wild.

Hiking is another highlight, with trails like the Lake Agnes Teahouse route, which takes you up to the top of the mountain with a cozy stop for tea and snacks along the way.

For even more scenery, the Lake Louise Summer Gondola gives you a whole new perspective of the Rockies, and Moraine Lake is the perfect add-on if you’re already in the area!

Between the views and the activities, Lake Louise continues to be one of the most unforgettable summer destinations in Alberta. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours on the water, hiking the trails, and taking in all the fresh mountain air.

With shuttle reservations opening this week, it’s definitely time to start locking in those summer plans.

When: Open year-round
Time: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 201 Village Rd., Lake Louise, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $12.25 per day
