Get ready for another sun-drenched Australian romance. Netflix has officially picked up the SVOD rights to You, Always, a breezy new 2025 rom-com starring Adrian Grenier and Jessica De Gouw. The new movie is expected to touch down in most Netflix regions, including the US and UK, beginning on May 1st, 2026.

Produced by Jaggi Entertainment—the prolific Brisbane-based production company behind a slew of Netflix’s favorite Aussie feel-good movies like Love is in the Air, This Little Love of Mine, and Romance on the Menu—the 93-minute feature promises plenty of laughs, love triangles, and stunning scenery from Far North Queensland in Aus.

Here is everything we know so far about You, Always coming to Netflix.

What is the plot of You, Always?

If you love a classic “best friends to lovers” trope mixed with a sweeping, scenic love triangle, this one is right up your alley.

Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming film:

“Dr. Jen Bell, a dedicated GP in Far North Queensland, juggles her career, motherhood, and volunteer work with Marine Search & Rescue, which she does alongside her best friend, Ethan. Hoping to take their bond further, Jen plans a romantic picnic—but, unaware of her feelings, Ethan spends the night gaming and unintentionally stands her up. Disheartened, Jen begins to let go of the idea of them.

Soon after, a chance encounter with her favorite author, Patrick, sweeps her into a whirlwind of adventures as she shows him around FNQ for inspiration for his new book. Meanwhile, Ethan meets Matilda—a warm, engaging woman he rescues during a callout. As Jen and Patrick grow closer, he proposes. Jen accepts, picturing a fresh start in Sydney. Shocked, Ethan finally confesses his feelings, but Jen insists it’s too late. Matilda sees where Ethan’s heart truly lies and chooses to walk away. Motivated by Jen’s words, Ethan stops holding back and accepts the role of MSR Captain. On the day Jen is set to leave, doubt floods in—torn between the life she’s chosen and the one she’s planning to leave behind.”

Who is in the cast of You, Always?

The film boasts a solid lineup of recognizable international and Australian talent.

Leading the cast are Jessica De Gouw (Arrow, Netflix’s The Gentlemen, The Secrets She Keeps) and Adrian Grenier, best known for his long-running role as Vincent Chase on HBO’s Entourage and, more recently, in the Netflix hit series Clickbait. They are joined by Desmond Chiam, who Netflix subscribers will recognize from Partner Track and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The full cast list for the movie includes:

  • Adrian Grenier
  • Jessica De Gouw
  • Desmond Chiam
  • Aria Burton
  • Spencer McLaren
  • Adyn Kingi
  • Garth Edwards
  • Yasmin Kassim
  • Jessie Starmer
  • Carla Thexton
  • Sebatien Skubala
  • Jake Howell
  • Hayden Lawson
  • Rachel Kleyn

Who is behind the movie?

You, Always is directed by Christine Luby, who is no stranger to the Netflix/Jaggi Entertainment pipeline. Luby previously directed the hit Netflix YA series Dive Club as well as the rom-com This Little Love of Mine. The script was penned by a trio of writers: Ansley Gordon, Yasmin Kassim (who also stars in the film), and Adam C. Sherer.

As mentioned, the project hails from Jaggi Entertainment, with Steve Jaggi and Kylie Pascoe serving as producers. The small indie outfit previously produced Love is in the Air in 2023, exclusively for the streamer.  The extensive team of executive producers includes Michael Gray, Phil Hunt, Jip Panosot, Compton Ross, and Janine Pearce. Behind the camera, the crew features Director of Photography Simon Harding, Production Designer Dylan Schenkeveld, Editor Charlotte Cutting, and a score composed by Angela Little.
