10 things to do this week in Edmonton (May 18-22)

17 May 20264 Mins Read

Edmonton is getting busy this week with so many great things to do, and I personally can’t wait.

The weather has cleared up, alongside my schedule for the week. That’s why I’m here to showcase all the great things going on in the city right now. We have markets, we have dance lessons, and we have so much more.

So, without further ado, let’s get into the swing of things.

Edmonton’s science centre features displays and interactive learning opportunities to exercise your brain. You can also catch a movie in IMAX or visit one of its many exhibits.

Where: 11211 142nd St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $25.95+

There’s no question that Edmonton has some of the best escape rooms. We’ve rounded up the best of them in a list for you to check out as a family, and maybe, just maybe, you might be able to escape.

Where: Various locations
Cost: $25+

Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned hiker, or just a casual trail lurker, there’s a hike or trail in Edmonton for everyone. These trails are also good in the summer and for year-round walking, but we recommend them this time of year.

Where: Check out Curiocity’s guide to hiking trails
Cost: Free

L-ART-T is the Edmonton Arts Council’s LRT pop-ups, with interactive activities and performances taking over the stations on multiple occasions. Whether it’s getting a poem made just for you, a spoken word performance, or something you’d never expect on an LRT ride, you’re going to have a great time.

On May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m., you can celebrate Hip Hop Appreciation Week with a performance featuring some of Edmonton’s most talented MCs and DJs, in collaboration with Hip Hop in the Park.

When: Now until Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Multiple Edmonton LRT stations
Cost: Free

Salsa in the Square is a program running every Wednesday in Churchill Square, thanks to ETOWN SALSA and the Edmonton Arts Council. From 6 to 8 p.m. daily, you’ll get a free class where you’ll learn basic moves for different Latin dances.

When: Now until June 24, 2026
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: Free

Every week on Wednesdays, The Grindstone hosts one of Edmonton’s only stand-up comedy open mic nights. Open to both first-timers and seasoned comics, each set is five minutes for some good laughs.

When: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Time: 10 p.m. to midnight
Where: Grindstone Theatre — 10019 81st Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.

Located at Salisbury Greenhouse in Sherwood Park, this market comes around every Thursday, no matter rain or shine. You can find a wide variety of offerings here, no matter if it’s food, trinkets, or something entirely different.

When: Every Thursday
Time: 4 to 7 p.m.
Where: 52337 Range Rd. 232, Sherwood Park, Alta.
