There is a specific art to a good all-day neighbourhood spot, and Queen West just
landed one. Opened a few months ago, Sovily Pizza Bar & Café is a total passion project. The husband-and-wife team behind it designed the entire space themselves, swapping out
typical cafe minimalism for massive, custom wall art you can actually stare at while
drinking your morning coffee.
They are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., covering everything from early espresso runs to mid-afternoon cravings. The kitchen balances thin-crust pizzas, heavy-duty Italian pizza sandwiches and a breakfast menu that doesn’t skimp on carbs.
Instead of standard, uninspired morning fare, Sovily serves up massive plates such
as its protein omelette — stuffed with beef sausage, pastrami and fried onions — served alongside roasted potatoes and fresh, airy panuozzo bread. Then there is the item
currently blowing up local Sovily they open the sour-dough crust flat, layer it with a creamy spinach mix and blistered cherry tomatoes and bake it to order.

On the pizza front, the immediate standout is the truffle mushroom, a slice loaded with smoked mozzarella, mascarpone and truffle oil. If you are leaning toward lunch, skip the
standard deli slices. They use that same warm, freshly baked pizza crust to build their sandwiches — like the Montreal turkey or the massive roast beef pocket jammed with
pickles and garlic aïoli.
