Mexifest is bringing a full-on cultural takeover back to Calgary this summer, turning Eau Claire Plaza into a three-day celebration packed with Mexican music, food and entertainment. The festival is all about colour, energy, and community, with something happening around every corner throughout the weekend.
The festival runs from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5, 2026, so if you’re already heading downtown for the Calgary Stampede, this event is a great add-on if you’re looking for a break from the rodeo madness and want to switch things up for a few hours.
Three days of food, music and Lucha Libre action
Across all three days, Mexifest will feature more than 25 food vendors serving up everything from traditional Mexican favourites to modern street-style dishes. The festival also has a stacked lineup of entertainment, including mariachi bands, norteño music, and reggae sets that make it feel like you have stepped right into Mexico.
According to Mexifest, one of the biggest draws of the weekend is the Lucha Libre wrestling, with over 15 international wrestlers from Mexico City putting on high-energy matches throughout the festival.
Alongside all the entertainment, the artisan market allows visitors to explore handmade goods and cultural pieces. There’s also a dedicated kids’ zone with games and activities so younger festival-goers have their own space to enjoy the weekend.
Plan your visit
Mexifest runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, giving you plenty of time to explore everything the event has to offer. Free admission will be available on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon; after that, tickets are required for entry and can be purchased online or at the door. Since it’s located in the Eau Claire Plaza, the site is super easy to access, whether you’re hopping on transit or biking over for the day.
So if you’ve ever wanted to get a little taste of Mexico without leaving the city, this is your sign to head over to Mexifest. Between the food, music, and Lucha Libre, it’s a great way to soak in all of the traditions and get a strong sense of community throughout the weekend
