Kimpton El Castelar is now open in Mexico City’s Polanquito neighborhood at Emilio Castelar 107, Colonia Polanco. The 34-room boutique hotel is located near Masarik Avenue, Auditorio Nacional, Chapultepec Castle, and the Archeological Museum, in the heart of Lincoln Park. The property occupies the Roel Building, which was originally opened in 1940 and designed by architect Francisco J. Serrano during the Mexican Art Nouveau period.
The hotel features multiple private outdoor terraces and a rooftop pool. Guest rooms include bespoke furniture and décor sourced in Mexico, original art pieces from local artists, and most rooms offer a soaking tub. Interiors use materials such as terracotta, metals, and natural stones, with wood floors and cement tiles patterned in styles reminiscent of traditional Mexican ceramics.
Amenities include complimentary bikes for guest use, yoga mats in each room, and pet-friendly accommodations that allow animals of all sizes to stay at no additional charge. Kimpton Kickstart provides daily complimentary coffee and premium teas, while Kimpton Social Hour offers nightly complimentary beer, wine, and chef-prepared bites in the lobby.
Kimpton El Castelar joins Kimpton Virgilio, which opened in 2024 in Polanco, Mexico City. Both properties are located in historically preserved apartment buildings. Kimpton’s portfolio includes 87 hotels open worldwide and 67 hotels in its pipeline.
