Named as one of Time’s 2026 Women of the Year, Taylor is currently gearing up for her directorial debut. Get Lite, a film set to debut in the spring of 2027 starring Euphoria’s Storm Reid, will be set in her hometown of New York City and follows a headstrong teenager who is caught between his love of dancing and his strict family’s wishes.

It comes as no surprise that Taylor’s schedule is hectic these days—the 36-year-old admitted that she’s “constantly on the go”— but that didn’t stop her from catching up with us. Read on as Taylor dishes on her go-to lipstick shade (Taylor was recently named the newest face of Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick), her awards season must-haves and her favourite thing about Canada.

Q&A with Teyana Taylor

Q&A with Teyana Taylor

Q: What made you want to collaborate with Revlon?

A: Revlon just gets it. It’s a brand that’s always celebrated women owning who they are instead of trying to fit into somebody else’s idea of beauty. That’s something I’ve always stood on. Beauty is about expression. Some days it’s a bare face; some days it’s a full glam moment. However I show up, I want it to feel like me. That’s why this partnership felt natural.

Q: What’s your favourite shade of Super Lustrous Lipstick and why?

I love a lip that says something before I even do. For the Met Gala I wore Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lip Balm in Girly Swirly, and it was that perfect neutral that pulled everything together without competing with the look. That’s what I love about it.

Q:  What are a few other products you can’t live without?

Lip liner is non-negotiable. I wore the Revlon ColorStay Multi-Liner in As Is to the Met Gala and it was exactly what I needed. I also don’t play about my brows. For me, [with] a brow and a lip I can do anything! I don’t believe beauty has to be complicated. It’s about those little details that make you feel like you.

Q: Do you have any must-haves when getting ready for the Oscars or other big events?

A: Music. always. You can tell everything about the night by what’s playing in the glam room. If the vibe is right, everything else falls into place.

Q: How did you celebrate your big wins at the Oscars and Golden Globes?

A: Honestly, I celebrated with gratitude. Winning the Golden Globe and being part of a film that went on to win Best Picture… it was bigger than a trophy. I celebrated with my [One Battle After Another] and WB family, my parents, my team, my village. It was a really special time in my life getting to be on that journey.

Q: You must be constantly on the go—do you have any travel essentials?

A: I am constantly on the go so everything is always packed. I have one bag I always have with me that has all of my essentials including my lip products, my fragrances, what I love for my brows, lotion… you know, the important things. Revlon Super Lustrous is always easy because it instantly makes you look put together. When you’re moving as much as I do, you learn that feeling like yourself is the real luxury.

Q: You’ve toured in Canada before—what do you think of the country?

A: Canada always shows up with so much love. The fans have incredible energy, and every city brings something different. Toronto especially has a creative spirit that’s really inspiring. The music, the fashion, the art—it always feels like there’s something happening.

Q: Any upcoming projects that excite you?

A: I’m prepping to start directing my first feature film, GET LITE. It is consuming all of my time, and I can’t wait to start shooting.
