A new competition is bringing world-class water skiers to this Calgary lake

24 July 20263 Mins Read

The Rocky Mountain Pro Am is making its debut at Predator Bay Water Ski Club, bringing some of the world’s top water skiers to the Calgary area for a weekend of high-level competition. The four-day event will feature athletes competing in some of the sport’s biggest disciplines, including slalom, trick, and jump events.

Here’s what to know about the new competition coming to Calgary this summer.

What to expect at the Rocky Mountain Pro Am

This will be the first year of the Rocky Mountain Pro Am, and according to organizers, the event will bring approximately 100 elite competitors to Predator Bay Water Ski Club, including many of the top-ranked professional water skiers in the world.

Throughout the weekend, both men and women will compete across multiple disciplines, including slalom, trick, and jump events. The Slalom competition challenges athletes to weave through the course at high speeds, while the trick events will showcase spins, slips, and other technical skills.

Fans can also expect to see athletes take on the jump ramp, where competitors will launch themselves into the air while chasing the longest distance possible.

For those who have never watched competitive water skiing before, the event is a chance to see just how technical the sport can be. While it might look like a simple ride across the water, it’s actually a test of balance, timing, and control, and athletes spend years perfecting the skills needed to compete at this level.

Pricing, timing, and details

The Rocky Mountain Pro Am will run from July 3 until Aug. 2 at Predator Bay Water Ski Club. The event is completely free to attend and is open to all ages, making it a great family outing that won’t break the bank.

Predator Bay Water Ski Club is located roughly 10 kilometres south of Calgary’s city limits; the club sits alongside two private man-made ski lakes known as the Lakes of KastynStone. The facility was built specifically for water skiing and gives spectators a special chance to watch the competition unfold up close.

Calgary doesn’t often get a chance to watch a sport like this at the highest level. So, if you’ve never had a chance to see competitive water skiing in action before, this is your opportunity to watch some of the world’s top athletes on the water and pull off some seriously impressive tricks.

When: Thursday, July 30, until Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Predator Bay Water Ski Club – 480 230th Ave. E., Foothills, Alta.
Cost: Free
