Goodwill is hosting a fairytale-inspired fashion show in Calgary this month

5 August 20262 Mins Read

This August, Goodwill’s Runway Re-Imagined Calgary fashion show is returning for its third annual celebration, transforming donated denim into one-of-a-kind runway looks. The show will feature outfits made in collaboration with local Calgary artists and will showcase how sustainable fashion can be creative and stylish.

So if you’re into fashion, supporting local artists, or seeing how everyday pieces can be transformed, this show is worth checking out.

Since launching in 2023, Runway Re-Imagined has challenged local artists to transform donated clothing from Goodwill into runway-worthy creations, with a different theme inspiring each year’s collection.

According to organizers, the goal behind Runway Re-Imagined is to showcase that fashion can be creative, sustainable, and inclusive. By taking used clothes and turning them into new runway pieces, the event encourages people to rethink the way they view secondhand fashion.

This year’s artists were encouraged to create fairytale-inspired pieces using donated denim. And the outdoor show gives guests a chance to see these designs come to life on the runway.

During the show, you can expect to see models of all abilities strutting down the runway. Attendees may also see some familiar faces from Calgary’s creative community, including local content creators and Goodwill ambassadors.

Before the fashion show begins, guests can also browse the market, where they’ll have the chance to shop Goodwill pieces and see how sustainable fashion can be incorporated into their wardrobes.

The fashion show will take place on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, at the RiverWalk Plaza from noon to 2 p.m. Entry is completely free, but seats are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot online ahead of time.

Since the show is outdoors, you’ll want to come dressed for the weather and bring anything you need to feel comfortable while watching the runway.

It turns out an old pair of jeans can do a lot more than sit in the back of your closet. If nothing else, Runway Re-Imagined might just change the way you look at your next donation bag.

When: Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026
Time: Noon to 2 p.m.
Where: RiverWalk Plaza – 632 Confluence Way SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free
