Toronto’s first pay-by-weight tiramisu spot is here and you can mix every flavour, Canada Reviews

17 August 20262 Mins Read

If you like your desserts by the spoonful, there’s a delicious new spot for you in Toronto.

Mirello, opened on August 15, has brought the city’s very first pay-by-weight tiramisu concept to the city. Instead of settling for a standard pre-cut slice, you grab a container, load up on whatever catches your eye, and pay based on the total weight at $9 per 100 grams.

It sounds like a dream for people who hate committing to a single dessert, but it quickly turns into a test of willpower once you are standing in front of the counter. The shop features a rotating lineup of options, from a classic recipe developed alongside an Italian pastry chef to more creative creations.

You’ll find options like Pistachio made with house-made paste and roasted chunks, a Lotus Biscoff version layered with cookie spread and fruit-forward builds like Strawberry or Mango topped with Ataulfo mango coulis. They have even experimented with distinct tea-infused options like Earl Grey and Bangladeshi Tea.

The beauty of the pay-by-weight setup is that you can mix and match a few spoonfuls of different creations without committing to a full portion of just one. The mascarpone base is an ideal balance of rich and light, making it entirely too easy to keep adding “just a little bit more” to your cup. Though take note of the sign at the counter before you start scooping: once it hits your container, there are no scoop-backs, so your final weight might end up a little over what you originally planned!

If the tiramisu selection is not enough to trigger a decision crisis, the shop also serves gelato weighed at $5.50 per 100 grams, along with cold brew and iced matcha drinks layered with fruit and cold foam.

You can check it out for yourself at 60 Danforth Road. Just try to keep your hand steady at the counter, because that “no scoop-backs” rule is surprisingly unforgiving on your wallet.
