There’s a music festival in Edmonton taking over the downtown with over 125 artists

21 August 20263 Mins Read

Purple City Music Festival is back in Edmonton this September with over 125 artists taking over nine stages located throughout the downtown core.

This multi-venue musical experience is dedicated to showcasing, as stated by Purple City itself, “new sounds from the global underground.” According to the festival itself, next month’s fest is going to be the biggest edition yet. Coming up this September, you can expect Purple City Music Festival to take over two blocks in downtown Edmonton with not only its live music, but some all-new free day programming like professional wrestling and its own block party.

Everything to know about Purple City Music Festival

When is Purple City Music Festival?

Purple City will be coming to Edmonton from Friday, Sept. 11, to Sunday, Sept. 13.

What venues will the festival be taking place at?

There will be nine stages across six venues within a two-block radius of each other in downtown Edmonton.

These venues include:

  • All Saints Cathedral — 10035 103rd St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
  • Freemasons Hall (upper and lower stages) — 10318 100th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
  • Y AfterHours (upper and lower stages) — 10028 102nd St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
  • Chateau Lacombe — 10111 Bellamy Hill Rd. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
  • The Starlite Room (Temple Stage and River City Revival)— 10030 102nd St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
  • Block Party on 102nd Street

What’s new this year at the Purple City Music Festival?

On top of all the incredible concerts being put on, there’s more. Purple City made all daytime programming this year free in an effort to make the arts more accessible.

This means folks will be able to head on down to their Block Party, which features its own outdoor main stage with live wrestling, hip-hop and hardcore showcases, as well as the Masonic Market and Talk City Music Conference at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel.

What artists are on the lineup?

The top-billed artists for Purple City Music Festival are Desire, Johnny Jewel, Shannon Shaw, and Bambara.

Recently, there was another wave of artist announcements. This included names like DOOM GONG, Theo Vandenhoff, Spirit Hotel, Moon Owl’s Mages, Kali Horse, Sundress, and many more talented artists.

For the full lineup of over 125 artists, you can check out Purple City’s website online.

What kinds of passes are available?

There are several types of passes available: individual tickets, full weekend passes, youth weekend passes (for those ages 13 to 17), and VIP wristbands.

Individual tickets will guarantee folks entrance to the show of their choosing and reserve space for individuals in the venue capacity. Full weekend passes are an all-access pass to all shows during the fest, but entrance to venues will be subject to capacity. The full weekend pass rules also apply to youth weekend passes.

For those wanting a premium festival experience, VIP passes will guarantee you access to all events, and you’ll get your own limited-edition screen print poster and festival t-shirt or tote.

How much are the passes?

Individual tickets and passes will cost you between $25 and $35 plus fees. Full weekend passes are now $185 plus fees after the first tier has sold out. Youth weekend passes are $80 plus fees, and VIP passes are $250 plus fees.

Tickets are already available for purchase online on Purple City’s website.

When: Friday, Sept. 11, to Sunday, Sept 13, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Various locations
Cost: Free daytime programming; individual show tickets start at $25 plus fees
