Jimmy Kimmel wasted no time roasting Guillermo Rodriguez as his longtime sidekick prepares to trade the late-night desk for the Dancing With the Stars ballroom.
During Kimmel’s first show back from summer vacation, Guillermo revealed he has been rehearsing three hours a day, five days a week with his professional partner, Whitney Carson. But instead of shedding pounds from all that dancing, Guillermo admitted he has actually gained 10 pounds—prompting Kimmel to marvel at what he called the impossible.
When Kimmel asked Guillermo how DWTS training was going, he replied, “It’s going good, Jimmy. It’s a lot of work. My body hurt, but I think I’m going to be doing this.” Guillermo said he has been training five days a week for about three hours a day.
But had all that dancing helped Guillermo lose any weight?
“Unfortunately not,” he admitted.
“How is this possible?” Kimmel laughed. “You know, usually typically the contestants will lose weight dancing three hours a day, five days a week!”
Guillermo had the perfect response. “After the practice, I go eat right away. I’m so hungry!” he exclaimed.
That’s when Guillermo revealed that he had actually gained 10 pounds during his training. But in typical Kimmel fashion, the late-night host turned the admission into a good-natured roast while praising his longtime sidekick’s efforts.
“You know what? You’re achieving the impossible, Guillermo,” Kimmel said. “Don’t get too skinny. I like this. I like the way you are. And also, don’t become one of those mean dancers like the ones in the Beat It video.”
Guillermo will officially take the ballroom floor when Dancing With the Stars returns for its new season. He will compete alongside Carson, a returning pro and reigning champion, as he attempts to trade his role behind Kimmel’s desk for a shot at the Mirrorball Trophy.
Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars kicks off with a two-night premiere event on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET.
