I’ve been saying that Geary Avenue is on the rise, and the ultra-cool block just got a spa sanctuary unlike anything else in the city. Sana, “a refined sanctuary where the timeless art of thermal rituals meets modern design and hospitality,” is now open to the public. And this is unlike any downtown Toronto spa you’ve visited before.
You can think of Sana like a modern banya. Guests are invited to fully immerse themselves in a personalized wellness journey while enjoying an inviting social experience.
Sana is made up of two floors. The first floor includes a full-service restaurant, bar, and all-season patio serving up fresh juices and kombucha if you’re looking for something refreshing and light, as well as cocktails and food.
The menu was curated with wellness and nourishment in mind. Some highlights include the old country salad, seasonal vegetable board, and handmade pierogis.
The second floor is where you’ll find the tea lounge, where you can relax before, during, or after the wellness experiences.
Speaking of the wellness experiences, Sana’s lineup has cold plunges, saunas, and steam rooms.
“We’ve been intentional about bringing together music, scent, and atmosphere in a way that feels contemporary yet deeply grounding,” says co-founder Malcolm Levy. “It’s our nod to the bathhouse traditions of Europe, but reimagined through a modern cultural lens—something that feels uniquely of this city and this time.”
As if it didn’t sound amazing enough, Sana is keeping it Canadian by collaborating with brands in-country. Partnerships range from custom swimwear by Beth Richards and Bather, towels and robes designed by Toronto’s Brian Mendoza, and a bespoke floral program by Gunnar.
With both a spa and a dining experience in one, you can turn an evening or day at Sana into the ultimate hangout with friends or date night with that someone special.
Sana is taking bookings, with day passes starting at $40 for time slots between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, or $60 for a day pass during peak hours.
I know what I’ll be doing to shake off these February blues!
