Well, Big Brother certainly knows how to hit the ground running! Or, in this case, time-traveling. Season 28 kicked off in mind-bending fashion, as 14 players walked into the house, only to be told that three reality icons would be joining them soon. With the additions of Survivor fan-favorite Rick Devens, Big Brother standout Angela Murray, and most recently, Survivor winner Dee Valladares, the cast now officially clocks in at a whopping 17 houseguests. Who is Head of Household on Big Brother 28 this week?

In one of the many premiere twists, the 14 initial houseguests were told none of them would be the first HoH. Instead, the three reality icons would compete for the first power position in the season. And, given Dee’s proficiency in challenges from Survivor (and her tenure on a literal show called The Challenge), it’s no surprise she beat Angela and Rick to become Big Brother 28‘s opening HoH.

Are there any twists this week on Big Brother 28?

Yes! As mentioned before, the jam-packed Big Brother 28 premiere introduced the season-long “Time Trip” theme. The houseguests were flung into a variety of historical periods where, in groups of four, they competed for safety. Rome Seymour, Chuk Anyanwu, and Jason De Puy won each of their heats, earning immunity from this week’s nomination. And their time travel brought Angela, Rick, and Dee into the game. But not before we traumatically watched former Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly get dramatically thrown into a volcano by an ornery velociraptor!
