Catalina Island Company Reopens Pavilion Hotel in Avalon, CA

Catalina Island Company has reopened Pavilion Hotel in Avalon after renovating the 1958 property. The hotel features refreshed guest rooms and updated public spaces while maintaining its coastal charm.

The site was previously home to Avalon’s Dance Pavilion in the late 1800s. The hotel’s new design draws from its mid-century origins, with classic silhouettes, botanical accents, and coastal color schemes. Guest rooms and suites are designed to welcome ocean breezes, and select deluxe accommodations offer French doors and private patios overlooking the central courtyard.

The open-air courtyard remains a central feature, providing space for guests to gather throughout the day, with chaise lounge chairs and a fire pit area for the hotel’s Social Hour. The Lanai, located across from the lobby, serves as a gathering space for a daily continental breakfast in a tropical landscape setting.

The lobby includes wine dispensers for guests to sample a selection of wines. Pavilion Hotel is part of Catalina Island Company’s portfolio, which also includes Mt Ada, Hotel Atwater, and Banning House Lodge & Villas. Guests have access to the company’s dining options, activities, tours, and beach access at Descanso Beach Club.

Reservations for Pavilion Hotel are open, with rates starting at $350 per night.
