Are you ready for the ultimate glamping experience?
Elk Island Retreat, located just outside of Edmonton in Elk Island National Park, is a luxurious wilderness retreat. Here, you can go for the day and experience bliss in its sauna, or you can stay overnight in one of the comfy geodomes set up. This nature retreat is more than an escape; it’s a whole new world.
Good news, it’s officially opening for the season on March 20. Get ready to book your stay, because these yurts will fill up fast.
What to expect
There are several ways you can enjoy Elk Island Retreat. Whether it’s staying in a geodome, cabin, yurt, van, or RV at one of its parks, or just taking a stop in the sauna for the day, you’ll be having a good time.
Its geodomes are the most popular way to go, and what it’s most known for. These round retreats are the perfect way to achieve maximum tranquillity, immersed right in the forest itself. You can get a scenic view of the valley, animals, and nature, all just a hop, skip, and jump away from the city.
Its stays aren’t the only luxury it’s offering. Even the outhouses are designed to be more upscale than your typical stop. It’s designed to match the vibes of its luxury glamping facilities, with the outhouses offering a more pampered place to go.
While you’re visiting, you can explore many of the activities on-site or travel a little way if you have a sense of adventure.
As part of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, this spot offers spectacular night sky views. You might even be able to see the aurora borealis, but I suggest checking Alberta’s Aurora Watch for exact times and dates.
If you’re too attached to your phone, don’t worry, there’s Wi-Fi out here, too. Guests at the RV sites can stay connected with free access to its passcode-secured Wi-Fi service.
You can start booking your stays now, with pricing starting at $120. Availability can be checked online, but I’d suggest booking soon. These luxury escapes tend to book up quickly.
Enjoy your retreat into the wilderness!
