Ahead of the start of the next FIFA World Cup on June 11th, and following its recent four-year deal to broadcast the Concacaf Nations League games in Mexico, Netflix has stocked up on docuseries, original movies, and unscripted projects revolving around football. From Brazil to France, here are all the projects set for release that we know of.

For more on Netflix’s upcoming sports titles, keep an eye on our hub page and our full list of upcoming sports documentaries.

USA ’94: Brazil’s Return To Glory

Usa 94 Brazils Return To Glory Netflix TeamUsa 94 Brazils Return To Glory Netflix Team

Image Description: TETRA: ACREDITAR DE NOVO Cr. Courtesy of Netflix/Netflix © 2026

Genre: Documentary film
Release Date: May 7th
Director: Luis Ara
Interviewed personalities: Gilmar Rinaldi, Jorginho, Zinho, Dunga, Márcio Santos, Gianluca Pagliuca, and Demetrio Albertini

Netflix’s programming will highlight a significant chapter of Brazilian football history, starting with the big comeback of their team at the 1994 World Cup, which was hosted by the United States (just like this year). It was the win that broke a 24-year drought and promises several interviews with team players, as well as major rivals such as the Italian team. The big attraction will be the use of videotaped archives of training sessions recorded by the players themselves, providing an immersive look into the doubts, pressure, and eventual triumph. You can find more details in our preview here.

The Bus A French Football Mutiny RedimThe Bus A French Football Mutiny Redim

Coach Raymond Domenech talking to media. Cr : Netflix.

Genre: Documentary film
Release Date: May 13th
Interviewed personalities: Raymond Domenech, Roselyne Bachelot, François Hollande, Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Patrice Évra, and William Gallas

What we know: Announced with a teaser back in January 2025 at the Next on Netflix event, expectations are high for this project. Netflix VP Pauline Dauvin highlighted it as one of the major events for 2026, adding that “it was to be experienced like a thriller.” Indeed, the 2010 French football team strike during the World Cup, protesting coach Raymond Domenech’s decision to bench star player Nicolas Anelka, has all the elements of one. Tensions ran so high that the scandal took a political turn for the entire nation. The documentary promises a first-hand account of the events, featuring interviews with Roselyne Bachelot (the Minister of Sports at the time) and key players like William Gallas.

Untold UK: Jamie Vardy

Genre: Documentary movie
Release Date: May 12th
Director: Jesse Vile
Interviewed personalities: Jamie Vardy, Rebekah Vardy, Nigel Pearson, Wes Morgan, and Marc Albrighton

What we know: The Untold docuseries will premiere three new chapters dedicated to the world of UK football. First is an exclusive look at the storied career of former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, tracing his steps from a part-time player in Sheffield to his rise against all odds to win the Premier League under coach Claudio Ranieri. You can find more details in our story here.

Untold UK: Liverpool’s Miracle of Istanbul

Genre: Documentary movie
Release Date: May 19th
Director: Matthew Rudge
Interviews: Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Rafa Benitez, Xabi Alonso, Didi Hamann, Djimi Traore, Rick Parry, Stephen Warnock, and Neil Mellor

What we know: The second chapter of Untold UK focuses on one of the greatest moments in Champions League history: the 2005 final between Liverpool and AC Milan. After trailing 3-0 at halftime, the British team mounted a historic comeback. Featuring exclusive interviews with players and staff, the documentary chronicles the psychological and tactical battle of that night. You can find more details in our story here.

Untold UK: Vinnie Jones

Vinnie JonesVinnie Jones

Genre: Documentary movie
Release Date: May 26th
Directors: Ben Nicholas, David Tryhorn
Interviews: Vinnie Jones, John Fashanu, Dave Bassett, Bobby Gould, Sam Hammam, and Piers Morgan

The final outing of Untold UK features a familiar face even for non-football aficionados. While Vinnie Jones is now a go-to Hollywood “tough guy” for directors like Guy Ritchie, this movie focuses on his rise from working the fields in Wealdstone to his stint as a controversial “Hard Man” on the pitch during the 1980s and 1990s. More details can be found in our story here.

Brazil ’70: The Third Star

Genre: Drama miniseries
Release Date: May 29th
Cast: Rodrigo Santoro, Bruno Mazzeo, Lucas Agrícola

What we know: The 1970 World Cup win immortalized legends like Pelé and made Brazil the first team to win three titles. Netflix Latin America has chosen this project as a flagship miniseries with premium production values. Directed by Pedro and Paulo Morelli and produced by O2 Filmes (City of God), the project promises an epic behind-the-scenes look at a team triumphing over both internal pressure and national political turmoil. You can find more details in our preview here.

Mexico ’86

Genre: Drama-comedy movie
Release Date: June 8th
Director: Gabriel Ripstein
Cast: Diego Luna, Carla Souza, Daniel Giménez Cacho

What we know: Premiering the week the World Cup begins, this film chronicles the larger-than-life Martín De La Torre, played by Diego Luna. In 1986, after Colombia forfeited its hosting duties, De La Torre successfully maneuvered to bring the tournament to Mexico. Netflix is expected to make a big push for this “stranger-than-fiction” story in early June. More details in our complete preview.

The Root Of The Game (Várzea: Onde Nasce o Futebol)

Genre: Documentary movie
Release Date: June 8th
Director: Alec Cutter

What we know: This documentary explores the high-stakes world of the Super Copa Pioneer, São Paulo’s largest amateur tournament and a breeding ground for future stars.

From Brazil’s five World Cup titles to the emergence of many of the game’s greatest names, the world of várzea soccer is the root of it all—including the paths of stars like Raphinha and Cafu. Set against the Super Copa Pioneer, the series offers unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the competition, following players and coaches in pursuit of a life-changing title.
