Developer Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios showcased a new look at Fable on Sunday at the Xbox Games Showcase, giving fans a look at another of the game’s stars. The trailer also ended with a surprise: Fable will launch February 23, 2027.
The new trailer is considerably darker than previous looks at the game. Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Mission Impossible) stars as a villain who thinks she can be Albion’s one true hero. Fable is a reboot of the immersive open-world RPG franchise. Its narrative and world of Albion are shaped by your decisions as you choose what kind of hero to be.
The reboot was announced all the way back in 2020. It’s popped up at a few Xbox Games Showcases over years as Playground Games had targeted a 2025 release. In February 2025, Fable was delayed to 2026 and then just last month Xbox announced it was being delayed to February 2027 to avoid Grand Theft Auto 6 and fall’s other games, of which there are too many.
Fable will be released for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 23, 2027. It will be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.
