Netflix is cooking up something special with Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin. The new faith-based drama previously known as ‘Tis So Sweet has officially been retitled Give Me Some Sugah, and thanks to a batch of brand-new first-look images, we have your comprehensive guide to the upcoming movie which is scheduled to touch down on December 16th, 2026, just before Christmas.
As we previously reported when the project was first announced, Give Me Some Sugah is the second feature film born out of the multi-year faith-based partnership between producers Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin. Following the massive success of their first collaborative Netflix film, Ruth & Boaz—which debuted at #2 on the Global Top 10 Movies List (English) upon its release—expectations are sky-high for this heartfelt follow-up.

Who is in the cast of Give Me Some Sugah?
This movie features an absolutely stacked cast, led by Oscar-nominated powerhouse Taraji P. Henson. Henson will be playing the lead role of Lenore Lindsey. (We’ll also see Kai N. Ture taking on the role of Young Lenore in flashbacks)
Henson is essentially Netflix royalty by now. In addition to this film, she’s just starred alongside Tyler Perry in the highly anticipated comedy Why Did I Get Married Again? and the 2025 thriller Straw (also helmed by Perry), which was one of the most-watched movies of the year picking up 191.3M viewing hours and 106.3M views in its 5 weeks in the weekly top 10s.
Thanks to the newly released first-look images and updated cast lists, we finally have character details for the primary cast. Starring alongside Henson are:

Rounding out the supporting cast and ensemble are Arischa Conner, Angela Davis, Caroline Avery Granger, Hasani Vibez Comer, and Frasher Demaj.
Finally, keeping up the tradition of filmmakers stepping in front of the camera, director Tasha Smith and producer DeVon Franklin are expected to make on-screen appearances in the film, per IMDb updates.
Who is behind the movie?
The talented Tasha Smith is sitting in the director’s chair. Smith is no stranger to the Netflix family, having recently directed episodes of Survival of the Thickest, and she brings a wealth of directorial experience from shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Bel-Air, and BMF. Fans will also know Smith from her extensive acting career, including her time on Empire working alongside Taraji P. Henson!
The script was penned by Randy Brown, who is well-known in the faith-based space for writing the Jennifer Garner hit Miracles from Heaven, as well as Trouble with the Curve.
DeVon Franklin (Flamin’ Hot, Breakthrough) and Tyler Perry serve as the lead producers. Executive producers on the project include Tony L. Strickland and Angi Bones for Tyler Perry Studios, alongside Bart Lipton.

Production on Give Me Some Sugah was quick and efficient, shooting at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Cameras rolled late last year between November 17, 2025, and December 10, 2025.
