GlobalData will host a webinar titled “Soft Tourism: Travel with Intention” on 11 March 2026, examining how environmental, social and geopolitical pressures are reshaping global travel models. According to GlobalData, international tourist arrivals reached 1.5 billion in 2025, underscoring the scale of the industry as it adapts to climate change, biodiversity loss, overtourism and shifting consumer expectations.
The session, led by the GlobalData Travel & Tourism team, will explore the emergence of soft tourism and the themes contributing to its growth. Topics include changing traveler behavior, evolving priorities, and strategies to attract visitors while addressing environmental and community concerns. Case studies will be presented to illustrate how destinations and operators are responding.
The webinar will also review the roles of governments, urban planners, private operators and technology providers in building responsible tourism ecosystems. Discussions will cover collaboration efforts to create smart, connected environments, as well as the implications of tighter sustainability regulations and the growing demand for purpose-driven travel experiences.
Additional areas of focus include economic trade-offs, governance considerations and credibility challenges associated with soft tourism initiatives. Regenerative tourism practices, smart connectivity and community-led models will also be addressed.
Registration for the webinar is open. The event will take place on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, at 10:00 am GMT / 3:30 pm IST.
