On June 30, 2026, Gravity Capital Hong Kong acquired Kingstone Capital UAE.
Kingstone Capital UAE owned 70.3% of Grand Metropolitan Hotels Holding B.V., a Dutch company previously operated as a joint venture between Kingstone Capital AG Switzerland and Versorgungswerk der Zahnärzte Berlin (VZB). As a result, Gravity Capital indirectly acquired the 70.3% stake.
Following the transaction:
-
The Dutch company’s directors and supervisory board members resigned.
-
The company lost its right to use the Grand Metropolitan name.
-
It was renamed Gravity Hospitality Holding and appointed a new management team.
-
Gravity Capital also acquired majority interests in Genesis AI, Room Hub and Xenios.
Grand Metropolitan 1931 AG, which owns the Grand Metropolitan trademarks worldwide, ended the Dutch company’s brand licence.
The transaction followed a prolonged disagreement between the joint venture partners. They were unable to agree on proposed solutions, including buying each other’s shares or raising additional capital. The new shareholders must now arrange future financing.
Kingstone Capital Holding AG Switzerland remains a strategic investor in the wider Grand Metropolitan Hotels Group, which is separate from the former joint venture. It will continue supporting the group’s international expansion.
Grand Metropolitan Hotels will focus on its asset-light businesses, including hotel management, branding, franchising, affiliations and digital hospitality services.
The group is also in exclusive talks to acquire a hotel-affiliation business, with an announcement expected in September 2026.
