Hill Hall Hotel is located at 135 High St. in downtown Fayetteville, W.Va., near New River Gorge National Park. The property is a member of Design Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy.

The hotel occupies Fayetteville’s original 1923 stone high school and a neighboring midcentury middle school building. The restored campus includes 40 guest rooms, Patsy’s restaurant, Patsy’s Provisions guest pantry, lounges and reading spaces. Guest parking is complimentary, and rates start at $225 per night.

Accommodations include Standard and Premium King rooms of approximately 330 square feet for two guests; King Suites of approximately 460 square feet; a Double King Suite of approximately 660 square feet with two private king bedrooms, a living area, wet bar, sink and refrigerator for up to four guests; and Standard Queen rooms of approximately 240 square feet for two guests. ADA-accessible rooms include a King Suite in the middle school building and one room on the second floor of the high school building, accessible by ramp.

Check-in begins at 4 p.m., and check-out is at 11 a.m. Dogs are permitted for $50 per dog, per night, with a limit of two dogs weighing up to 50 pounds each.

Patsy’s serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. and brunch Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are not required, although groups of six or more are encouraged to call ahead. Executive Chef Jeffrey Toth and Sous Chef Paul Almond lead the restaurant.

The opening menu includes Patsy’s Chex Mix, apple molasses-glazed meatloaf with potato, green bean and bacon, and Clear Water trout with mustard green, jalapeño cheddar hush puppy and lemon beurre blanc. The beverage program includes Old School Ale, an English-style pale ale brewed for the hotel by Fayetteville-based Bridge Brew Works, along with cocktails including the Mae-tini, The Dogwood and The Peeved Bee.

Coffee at Patsy’s and Patsy’s Provisions is supplied by Cherry River Coffee Roasters, while guest rooms include Tandem Coffee from Portland, Maine.

Mae Pate led the design of the building, rooms and public spaces. Aric Margolis of Charleston, West Virginia, served as architect of record, and David E. Looper & Company provided general contracting. Zmmr created the hotel’s brand identity and website. Artwork includes a mural by West Virginia artist Nichole Westfall, with Kevin Barry Art Advisory assisting with additional artwork.

The hotel has local partnerships for fitness access, bicycle rentals, climbing instruction and stand-up paddleboarding with Gripped Fitness, New River Bikes, New River Mountain Guides and Mountain Surf Paddle Sports. Coworking access is available through Ascend WV in the former elementary school on the same campus.
