The Ritz-Carlton Residences Planned for 2029 in Brooklyn Heights

In Brief: The Ritz-Carlton has announced plans to open branded residences in Brooklyn Heights by 2029, marking a significant entry into the New York City residential market and reflecting increased hotel brand investment in luxury urban real estate projects.

Marriott International and SomeraRoad plan to convert the former Hotel Bossert at 98 Montague St. into The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights, with construction expected to begin later this year and completion anticipated in 2029.

The project will occupy the former 14-story Renaissance Revival Hotel Bossert in Brooklyn Heights. The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights, will be the brand’s Brooklyn debut and the 50th standalone residence in its global development portfolio.

Helmle & Huberty designed the Hotel Bossert, which opened in 1909. The property hosted the Brooklyn Dodgers’ 1955 World Series celebration. SomeraRoad acquired the building in 2025.

Plans call for restoring the building’s original geometric-pattern brick facade, sculpted granite and limestone base, terra-cotta cornice and window details, arched double-height windows, cast-iron railings, and lion’s head keystones. The project will convert the landmark property into residences while retaining those architectural elements.

The residences will include a 24-hour-attended lobby and dedicated residential services. Residents will have access to the Residence Owner Recognition Program, ONVIA, which provides benefits across Marriott’s portfolio.

Union Square Hospitality Group will open its first full-service Brooklyn restaurant on the building’s ground floor. The restaurant will serve residents and the surrounding community and offer private entertaining opportunities and culinary experiences.
