Hilton has signed an agreement with THE SANKEI BUILDING CO., LTD. and HASEKO Real Estate Development, Inc. to open an LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Hakone Gora, Kanagawa. The hotel, scheduled to open in summer 2028, will be managed by Hilton and will be the first Hilton-managed hotel in Hakone.
The property will be located in Hakone Gora, an area known for its hot springs and natural scenery. Set within Momijidani, a popular autumn foliage spot, the hotel will be surrounded by cultural and artistic landmarks including the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the Hakone Museum of Art, and Gora Park. It will be approximately a three-minute walk from Koen-Kami Station on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car line and about 90 minutes by train from central Tokyo.
The resort is designed to offer access to natural hot springs and mountain surroundings, with experiences reflecting the local culture and environment. The location aims to meet demand for travel centered on wellness, nature, and local culture.
LXR Hotels & Resorts is a collection of 40 trading and pipeline properties. In Japan, the brand opened ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in Kyoto in 2021, with additional properties planned in Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Niseko, Hokkaido.
The agreement to open LXR Hotels & Resorts in Hakone Gora is part of Hilton’s strategy to expand its luxury portfolio in Japan. The hotel’s proximity to cultural and artistic sites and its natural setting are intended to appeal to travelers seeking experience-led stays in high-end leisure destinations.
