Hilton has announced accelerated growth in Africa, signing 29 hotel deals in 2025 across 15 countries. The company plans to open more than 100 hotels across the continent, with over half in Sub-Saharan Africa. Hilton’s pipeline is expected to create over 20,000 job opportunities and bring its total number of hotels trading and in the pipeline in Africa to more than 180. The announcement coincides with the Future Hospitality Summit Africa in Nairobi.

As part of its expansion, Hilton will debut in Gabon and re-enter Chad. In Gabon, Hilton has signed agreements for Hilton Libreville and Hilton Garden Inn Libreville, developed with FB Group and expected to open in 2027. Hilton Libreville will offer 101 guest rooms and suites, a signature restaurant, lobby café and bar, all-day dining restaurant with terrace, executive lounge, co-working hub, meeting facilities including a ballroom and four meeting rooms, a spa, fitness center, and outdoor pool. Hilton Garden Inn Libreville will feature 116 guest rooms and suites, a lobby shop, bar, fitness center, and meeting rooms. Both hotels will be situated on Libreville’s main waterfront in the Baie des Rois development.

In Sierra Leone, Hilton Garden Inn Freetown Airport is expected to open later this year in partnership with FB Group. The hotel will be located next to the Lungi Congress Center and is part of an airport expansion project. It will offer 110 guest rooms, a lobby café, restaurant, fitness center, outdoor pool, and four meeting rooms. This property will be the first internationally branded airport hotel in Sierra Leone.

In Chad, Hilton N’Djamena Toumai Palace is scheduled to open later this year in partnership with Société Nationale d’Exploitation Hôtelière (SONEXHO). Located in N’Djamena, 600 meters from N’Djamena International Airport, the hotel will offer 243 guest rooms and suites, dining venues including a specialty restaurant, sky bar and lounge, lobby bar and lounge, grab-and-go café, and all-day dining restaurant. Meeting and event facilities will include a banquet hall and four meeting rooms, with additional amenities such as a fitness center, tennis court, and outdoor pool.

Hilton is also expanding in Zambia and South Africa. Hilton Lusaka Pyramid, scheduled to open in 2027 in partnership with Zebra Manufacturing Zambia Limited, will have 211 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining venues, executive lounge, fitness centre, spa, outdoor swimming pools, and more than 4,000 square meters of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and 11 meeting and board rooms. The hotel will be located in Sunningdale, Lusaka, near embassies, ministries, and administrative offices.

In South Africa, Hilton Garden Inn Polokwane is set to open in 2028 in partnership with Net Worth Properties (Pty) Ltd. The hotel will offer an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, rooftop bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre, and four meeting and event rooms. It will be located within a mixed-use development near the business district and opposite a retail center.

Hilton has also announced new brand and market entries in West and East Africa, including Hilton Cotonou in Benin, DoubleTree by Hilton Lomé Airport in Togo, and Canopy by Hilton Zanzibar The Burj in Tanzania. The company is continuing expansion in Nigeria and Ethiopia, and has signed new hotels in Angola and Madagascar. Upcoming openings this year include Hilton Accra Cantonments in Ghana and Ava Hotel Nairobi, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, in Kenya. Hilton currently operates 70 hotels in Africa and has more than 100 hotels under development across 13 brands.
