‘The Greatest of Them All’ – as Conrad Hilton famously described the landmark property – recaptures the hotel’s original 1931 splendor.
The Waldorf Astoria New York has reopened following an extensive renovation, offering updated guest accommodations and new dining experiences. The hotel now features 375 guest rooms and 372 residences, with the majority of rooms exceeding 570 square feet. The redesign was led by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon and Jean-Louis Deniot.
The hotel introduces three new dining venues: Lex Yard, a brasserie led by Chef Michael Anthony; Peacock Alley, a cocktail lounge; and Yoshoku, a Japanese dining concept. Reservations for these venues are now available.
The hotel’s 43,000 square feet of event space, including the Grand Ballroom and several other rooms, will reopen on September 1. Additionally, the Guerlain Wellness Spa, spanning 20,000 square feet, is set to open later.
The renovation preserved the hotel’s original Art Deco architecture while incorporating modern amenities. The project involved extensive collaboration with the Landmarks Preservation Commission to maintain the building’s historical integrity. The restoration included preserving the murals and decorative features, along with updates to lighting and furnishings.
The Waldorf Astoria New York is located at 301 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
