As it turns out, artists do not get paid for the Super Bowl halftime show, at least not by the NFL. However, the NFL does cover all the production costs of the Super Bowl halftime show, so artists won’t be in the red if they perform.

Why don’t artists get paid to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
Artists don’t take home a paycheck from the Super Bowl halftime show for a few reasons. For one, the NFL pays for all the travel and production costs. Second, the Super Bowl halftime show is considered a major promotional opportunity, and financially, that typically works out in favor of the artist over time: They’ll see a spike in single and album sales, as well as concert tickets, if the show goes well.
In 2025, Kendrick Lamar saw a 175 percent boost in Spotify streaming in the U.S. just hours after his halftime performance, with his Drake diss track “Not Like Us” surging 430 percent. The previous year, Usher‘s Spotify streams went up by 550 percent following his performance.
