How to spend the ultimate Labour Day weekend in Wasaga Beach

26 August 20264 Mins Read

Summer in Ontario is all about getting outside, enjoying the sunshine, and making memories with the people you love. With Labour Day weekend just around the corner, there’s still time to squeeze in one more unforgettable weekend.

This year, send off the season with Memories of Summer, returning to Wasaga Beach from Sept. 3 to 5.

It’s three nights of free beachfront concerts along the world’s longest freshwater beach, plus food, family-fun activities, and plenty of ways to make the most of the long weekend.

From live music and local eats to a 65-foot Ferris wheel and fireworks over Georgian Bay, here’s how to make the most of your Labour Day weekend in Wasaga Beach.

Live music

With three nights of live music spanning generations and musical eras planned throughout the entire long weekend, Memories of Summer has a bit of nostalgia in store for everyone. The weekend kicks off Thursday with The Yacht Rock Show, bringing the smooth sounds and feel-good hits that defined the ’70s and ’80s to the beachfront.

The fun continues on Friday, Sept. 4, with Wing Night, a hip-hop and R&B cover band from Toronto. Expect high-energy performances of ’90s and early 2000s classics. Having sold out iconic Toronto venues like The Horseshoe Tavern and The Opera House, Wing Night is sure to bring the party to Wasaga Beach.

Then, on Saturday, Sept. 5, get ready to dance your way through the golden era of soul with Legends of Motown. This impressive 16-piece ensemble brings the sounds of Motown to life with captivating harmonies, soulful vocals, and an unforgettable live performance featuring classics inspired by artists like Marvin Gaye and The Supremes.

Best of all, every concert is free!

Local food

With all that dancing in the sand, you’ll surely work up an appetite. Head to the Memories of Summer food truck zone to grab everything from a quick snack to a full meal, with plenty of options to fuel your festival fun.

This is also a great chance to visit Wasaga Beach’s local restaurants and cafes, like Beach1 Smokehouse for tender brisket, Barcelos for a taste of its flame-grilled favourites, or Che Roba! Focaccia Bar for speciality Italian sandwiches made with fresh focaccia bread.

Memories of Summer is also hosting a licensed beer garden, where is the perfect spot to grab a drink, relax, and take in the beachfront atmosphere.

Family fun

Memories of Summer isn’t just about the music — there’s plenty happening throughout the weekend for the whole family.

]Be sure to take a ride on the 65-foot Ferris wheel and take in panoramic views of Wasaga Beach and Georgian Bay from above. Whether you’re enjoying a daytime spin with the kids or catching the sunset in the evening with your date, it’s a fun way to experience the beach from a whole new perspective.

Don’t forget to visit local attractions like Skull Island Mini Golf for a mythical 18-hole adventure or the Wasaga 500 Go-Karts, with 2 kilometres of surfaced high-banked track.

And, of course, no trip to Wasaga Beach is complete without spending some time by the water. Take a stroll along the shoreline, dip your toes in Georgian Bay and stay for a beautiful beachside sunset.

Celebrate the final days of summer

Make the final long weekend of summer one to remember!

With three nights of free live music, local food and drinks, family-friendly activities, and an unforgettable beachfront setting, a trip to Wasaga Beach the perfect way to celebrate the season with friends and family.
