TOUS les JOURS opened its first Toronto location and its pastries look unreal, Canada Reviews

One of South Korea’s biggest bakery chains has quietly opened inside the new H Mart in North York last Thursday, bringing its signature French-style baking and Korean-inspired flavours to Toronto for the first time.

Even with the quiet opening, influencers are all over this place (and for good reason). TOUS les JOURS (French for “every day”) is South Korea’s No. 2 bakery chain and longtime rival to Paris Baguette, and boasts display cases packed with everything from delicate pastries and cream-filled breads to croquettes, cakes and over-the-top croissant hybrids!

The bakery was founded in 1997 and has grown into a massive international brand, with more than 1800 locations worldwide. The chain made its Canadian debut in Calgary in 2023 (also inside an H Mart, naturally), and Toronto was already on its radar for future expansion.

Now onto the delicious stuff: the food! The bakery is known for its soft, airy breads and playful takes on well-known pastries. One of the more nostalgic options at the North York shop is the banana Nutella pastry, filled with creamy Nutella and sweet bananas inside a buttery, flaky puff pastry.

There’s also a super-flaky yuzu pie with a thin layer of citrusy yuzu along the bottom and sugar on top, alongside more traditional pastries like pain au raisin, chocolate-hazelnut croissants and Mont Blanc pastries.

Some of the most tempting options, though, are the filled breads. The soft choco bread hides a creamy chocolate centre inside a pillowy exterior, with milk and strawberry versions just in case you want to work through the set. The taro cream bread is another standout, with a purple-hued interior, soft cream and tons of taro flavour.

That love of impossibly soft bread runs throughout the menu. TOUS les JOURS’ milk cream bread is one of the bakery’s most popular items, pairing pillowy bread with vanilla bean custard.

For something a bit more aromatic, the curry croquette is stuffed with a sweet-and-savoury curry potato filling, so a perfect add-on to a bag consisting entirely of dessert. Donut lovers will fall for the crunchy twist donut (think fluffy and chewy on the inside, with a coating of tiny crispy rice puffs!).

If you want something more adventurous, the bakery even has its own crookie, the viral croissant-cookie mashup that’s exactly what it sounds like: a giant, buttery croissant meets a chewy, crunchy cookie!

And the pastry counter is only part of the operation. TOUS les JOURS also serves fresh sandwiches, whole loaves, macarons, roll cakes and celebration cakes alongside a lengthy drink menu.

It’s a formula that’s already taken the bakery around the world! TOUS les JOURS expanded into the U.S. in 2004 and has since built a large North American presence while sticking to the French-Asian bakery concept that made it a household name in South Korea.
