Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to expand its presence in Italy with three new hotel openings. The planned hotels will add a total of 428 rooms and suites to Hyatt’s portfolio in the country. The new properties include the first Hyatt Regency and Thompson Hotels branded locations in Italy, as well as a new Park Hyatt hotel in Taormina.

The company currently has six hotels across five brands in Italy, located in Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sardinia. Since 2019, Hyatt has quadrupled the number of rooms in its Italian portfolio. Across Europe, Hyatt operates 170 hotels under 19 brands and has more than 40 new hotels planned for future openings.

The planned additions in Italy are intended to broaden Hyatt’s brand presence across upper-upscale, lifestyle, and luxury segments. The new hotels are also expected to increase the company’s room count in high-demand Italian destinations.

Hyatt Regency Rome Central is expected to open at the end of the third quarter of 2026 near Rome’s main Termini train station. The hotel is planned to feature 238 rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, pool bar, and an Asian-inspired restaurant called Niroma. This property will mark the debut of the Hyatt Regency brand in Italy.

Thompson Rome is also expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. The hotel will introduce the Thompson Hotels lifestyle brand to the Italian market. Located in a repurposed heritage building near the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Piazza Venezia, the hotel is planned to have 69 rooms and three dining venues, including a sixth-floor Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant and a rooftop cocktail bar.

Park Hyatt Taormina is expected to open in 2028 in Sicily. This will be the second Park Hyatt hotel in Italy, joining Park Hyatt Milan. The planned hotel will have 121 suites, private terraces, views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, locally inspired dining, and a spa.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, international visitor spending in Italy is forecast to reach €78 billion by 2035.
