Kate Middleton Is the Monarchy’s ‘Secret Weapon,’ Says Royal Reporter

While the royal family faces ongoing change and intense public attention, one royal reporter says Kate Middleton has emerged as one of the monarchy’s most trusted and essential figures.

The Princess of Wales brings a sense of stability and relatability to the House of Windsor that continues to resonate with the public. Her growing influence within the royal family has reportedly made her an increasingly important presence behind the scenes, particularly during the past six years, when the clan has undergone major upheavals. These include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s exit, Queen Elizabeth‘s death, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s royal scandal, and cancer diagnosis for herself and King Charles.

Royal reporter Alicia Liberty for Express called Kate the “monarchy’s secret weapon.” That claim comes after comparisons to the late Princess Diana continue to surface in response to the women’s similar effects on the public.

Liberty wrote in an op-ed, “Whether Kensington Palace likes it or not, Catherine occupies emotional territory once held by Princess Diana herself. The public adores her. Women trust her. Parents relate to her.”

The royal reporter continued, “The institution feels safer with her standing beside William. And crucially, she understands something Harry and Meghan never seemed to grasp: royal relevance is built slowly through consistency, not endless reinventions and PR resets every six months.”

Liberty believes that, due to Kate’s stabilizing force behind the scenes, there will be less interference from those looking to upend the royal apple cart, including any further attempts at reconciliation with Harry and Meghan. The reporter suggested the princess’s growing influence could help keep the royal family on a more steady and unified course moving forward. Her successful solo trip to Italy in May 2026 further highlighted her rising confidence and presence on the world stage.

“The problem comes when disagreements begin damaging reputations, destabilizing staff environments, and publicly humiliating the institution itself.  That is why there is no way back for Harry and Meghan now. Not because of press headlines. Not because of public opinion polls. Not even because of King Charles,” the royal expert claimed.

“Catherine no longer trusts them. And when the future Queen no longer trusts you the door quietly, but firmly, closes forever,” Liberty concluded.

Kate Middleton has not responded publicly to any of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s claims against the royal family since they left their royal roles in 2020. Despite Harry’s remarks that he would love reconciliation, there have been no public attempts by the royals to move forward within that relationship.
