Max Domi is engaged to his girlfriend after 10 years together, Canada Reviews

Love is in the air, apparently (well, at least amongst Toronto athletes). Last week, beloved Blue Jays player Ernie Clement got engaged, then George Springer’s wife surprised fans with a new addition to the Jays family. Not to be outdone, there’s happy news coming out of Leafs Nation, too: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is getting married!

The 31-year-old recently announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Estelle Phillips, sharing a photo of his new fiancée showing off her gorgeous engagement ring on Instagram alongside the simple message, “I love you so much.”

Domi reportedly popped the question on Phillips’ birthday, with the Toronto-based makeup artist calling it the “Best birthday ever” in her Insta post. 

The couple has been together for around a decade, and Domi’s dad, former Leafs fan fave Tie Domi, marked the occasion with a sweet tribute of his own.

“Ten years of memories, laughter, challenges, growth, and choosing each other have brought you to this beautiful moment. Your relationship has stood the test of time watching you two grow up together, build a life together, and choose each other. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people more ready for this,” he wrote in an Insta post after the announcement.

“It feels like just yesterday you were my little boy, and now I get to watch you build a life and future with the woman you love. I couldn’t be more proud of the man you’ve become and the love you two have shared and grown over all these years,” he said, noting that Estelle is “family in every way that matters” and has been for a long time. 

“Watching this day come has been one of the great joys of being your dad.”

The engagement should give Domi something happy to celebrate following a difficult offseason. In May, the Leafs announced that the forward was dealing with complications following surgery for an issue he played through last season and he would be reevaluated at the beginning of training camp.

Toronto’s preseason begins Sat. Sept. 19, with split-squad games against the Montreal Canadiens, but the real thing starts just 10 days later: the Leafs open their 2026-27 regular season on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m., hosting the Canadiens at Scotiabank Arena.
