Toronto is getting its first taste of fall this week, Canada Reviews

8 September 20262 Mins Read

We technically still have a few more weeks of summer left (well, that is, if you don’t count meteorological fall), but the city is about to get a very convincing preview of autumn this week.

After a warm and sunny start to the week, temperatures are expected to take a noticeable dip in the evenings over the next few days, with rain moving in Wednesday and a chance of showers on Thursday.

According to Environment Canada, Tuesday will be the warmest and sunniest day of the week. Toronto is expected to reach a high of 25 C, feeling closer to 28 with the humidex, with sunshine giving way to a mix of sun and cloud throughout the day. Tuesday night will remain relatively mild, with a low of 19 C.

Showers are forecast for Wednesday, although the daytime high will reach 26 C. The wet weather could stay into the night, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and temperatures dropping to 16 C.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud on Thursday, with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a somewhat cooler (but still perfectly nice) daytime high of 23 C, but the chill arrives after the sun goes down.

On Thursday night, temperatures are forecast to plunge to just 10 C, which is a couple of degrees colder than Toronto’s normal minimum of around 13 C for this time of year. Oh, and bring your umbrella if you head out as there’ll be a 30 per cent chance of showers!

Friday is expected to be sunny again with a high of 22 C, followed by another relatively cool night at 12 C. Saturday should reach 24 C, although there’s currently a 40 per cent chance of showers overnight (but a relatively warm low of 17 C). Sunday will reach a high of 23 C, but with a 40 per cent chance of showers during the day and 30 per cent in the evening (expect a low of 13 C).

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, September is expected to be cooler than normal before temperatures return close to normal in October (you can see Ontario’s fall forecast here).
