JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has completed the sale of the Moran Hotel CITYCENTRE, a 244-room lifestyle hotel located within Houston’s 47-acre CITYCENTRE mixed-use district. JLL represented the seller, Midway, in the transaction, with MetroNational acquiring the asset in a joint venture. The sale included the hotel, 22 condominium units on floors 11 and 12, and 14,645 square feet of ground-floor retail space fully leased to Daily Gather and Yard House.
The Moran Hotel is centrally located in CITYCENTRE, a mixed-use neighborhood developed by Midway. CITYCENTRE features more than 400,000 square feet of retail, over 1,500 multifamily units, a 140,000-square-foot fitness facility, and nearly 1.5 million square feet of Class A office space. The hotel opened in 2009 as Hotel Sorella and was rebranded as the Moran in 2020, named for Midway founder Jim Moran.
The property completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2024, upgrading guestrooms, food and beverage outlets, and common areas. The renovation introduced expanded dining options, updated social spaces, and contemporary finishes. The hotel offers five food and beverage outlets, approximately 15,750 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool overlooking CITYCENTRE Green, and a fully equipped fitness center. Food and beverage options include Café Moran, The Allegory Bar, and The Board Room, a grab-and-go concept that opened in summer 2025.
The Moran Hotel is directly adjacent to CITYCENTRE Green, a gathering space that hosts live music and events, generating pedestrian flow to the hotel’s ground-floor retail and dining venues. The location at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Beltway 8 provides access to more than 2 million residents within 20 minutes and to 243,000 employees within a 5-mile radius. CITYCENTRE is recognized as a top-10 lifestyle retail center in Texas, attracting more than 4.6 million visitors annually to amenities such as Star Cinema Grill, Nike, Sephora, and a variety of restaurants.
The Moran Hotel has received the AAA Four Diamond Award annually since 2018 and has appeared in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards and Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2024 and 2025. The property also holds a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and ranks No. 30 among 542 hotels in Houston.
