My Place Hotels of America, an upper-midscale extended-stay hotel brand and the largest affiliated company of The Rivett Organization, has opened its first property in Florida in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda market, an area that serves as an excellent connecting point between Fort Myers and Tampa.

Located along the I-75 corridor at Kings Highway, the 63-room My Place Hotel – Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda, FL offers strong visibility and convenient access to attractions and commerce centers throughout the area. When it opened its doors, the hotel became the first new property to enter the submarket in more than five years and one of only two extended-stay options serving it.

“We’re thrilled to open our first My Place Hotel in Florida and introduce Punta Gorda to the reliability and comfort offered at our properties,” said Ryan Rivett, founder and CEO of My Place Hotels. “This is an exciting step in our growth across the state, with three additional Florida locations already under development. We see tremendous opportunity here, and we’re eager to keep building on that momentum.”

The hotel offers standard My Place amenities such as in-room kitchens, guest laundry, the My Store and a business center. Just beyond the property, more than 20 fast-food, quick-service and full-service restaurants sit within a half mile, putting dining within easy walking distance.

Legacy Development, LLC began work on the site in 2022 and started construction in 2025. Designed by The Richardson Design Partnership and Legacy Design Group, the property features a flat roof — a Florida-minded choice that adds storm resistance and efficiency while elevating the modern aesthetic of the My Place prototype. The hotel is owned by PCMP 23, LLC and managed by Legacy Management, LLC.

“Extended-stay demand in this market has outpaced supply for years,” said Tony Lunzman, executive vice president of Legacy Management. “From airport travelers and relocating families to project crews settling in for weeks at a time, our team is ready to give guests a comfortable, consistent home base as this region grows.”
