The Tamil series #Love was first announced in October, 2025 as part of a slate of movies and series from South India. At that time, series director Balaji Mohan (Maari) described the show as “a modern take on the classic ‘opposites attract’ idea.” When the series was added to the streaming catalogue, Netflix tagged it as “Swoonworthy” — a genre heavily populated by Korean dramas.
Mohan has since expanded on his intentions with the series:
When we made #Love, we wanted to tell a story that feels like it belongs to today. Romance has evolved, the way we meet people has changed, but the emotions at the heart of relationships remain incredibly familiar and timeless. What I love about this series is that it isn’t only about two people falling for each other – friendship, family, ambition and finding yourself are equally important parts of their journeys.
#Love is produced by May6 Entertainment Factory and Soundarya Rajnikanth (Kochadaiiyaan), who is also the series’ showrunner. The show is written by Nirmal Williams, with co-writers Sharada Subramanian and Shweta Chakravarty.
What is the plot of #Love?
Here’s how Netflix describes the Tamil romance series:
Sparks fly when the paths of Tara, a young and driven startup founder, cross with those of Matthew, a suave, flamboyant investor. While Tara believes in and bases her dating app on the ideology of compatibility, Matthew backs a dating app that endorses chemistry. They end up in a situation where they challenge each other to settle the debate of chemistry versus compatibility once and for all.
Who is cast in #Love?
Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandiram) stars as Tara, creator of the compatibility-focused app FOUND. Lekshmi says of Tara:
She is emotionally layered, ambitious and hardworking; she struggles, she falls, and yet she keeps building, all while trying to make sense of her own love life. She has built her entire career on the belief that love can be figured out — and then life throws her the one variable she simply cannot control. That hit a little too close to home.
Arjun Das (Con City) plays Matthew, creator of the chemistry-focused app Find My Bae. Here’s how Das describes his character:
What drew me to Matthew was how stubborn he is about chemistry. He’s a hopeless romantic hiding behind a chill guy exterior, and he’s convinced compatibility is just a fancy word people use when they’re scared to take a real chance.
#Love debuts on October 2 and has a TV-14 rating in the United States for substances and language.
