Netflix has set a February 2026 release date for the drama Museum of Innocence, an adaptation of Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk’s world-renowned novel.

Directed by Zeynep Günay (The Club, Bride of Istanbul) and written by Ertan Kurtulan (Insider), the Turkish series Museum of Innocence takes place in Istanbul between 1975 and 1984. The story is described by Netflix as a “multi-layered narrative of love, happiness, obsession, longing, and missed opportunities.”

Museum of Innocence follows businessman Kemal (Selahattin Paşalı), who comes from one of Istanbul’s wealthiest families, and his poor and distant young relative Füsun (Eylül Lize Kandemir). Fuelled by intense love, Kemal begins collecting his beloved’s everyday objects. Her belongings and waste: her earrings, her hair clips, and even her discarded cigarette butts. But for what reason? Is it simply an obsession? A peculiar showing of love? The story explores the nature of romantic attachment

Coming to Netflix just before Valentine’s Day on February 13th, the 9-episode series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name. Written by Orhan Pamuk, the story reached millions of readers in over 60 languages. Pamuk opened a real-life museum in 2012 following the success of the book, showcasing objects that appear in the novel. Between the novel and the real-world museum, the story has cultivated a dedicated fanbase.

The official longline for the series reads:

“‘Based on Orhan Pamuk’s internationally acclaimed novel, The Museum of Innocence tells the tempestuous story of Kemal, who comes from one of Istanbul’s wealthiest families, and his poor and distant young relation Füsun – beginning in the 1970s. Kemal, who is willing to take on the whole world for the sake of his feelings, starts collecting his beloved’s earrings, her hair clips, and even her discarded cigarette butts… What is love? An obsession, an affliction, an accident that derails the course of our life; or a great and innocent happiness?”

Outside of its two protagonists, the series boasts an acclaimed supporting cast, including Oya Unustası, Tilbe Saran, Bülent Emin Yarar, Gülçin Kültür Şahin, and Ercan Kesal.
