New report unveils one of Canada’s trendiest neighbourhoods is in Toronto

24 July 20262 Mins Read

If you’re looking to travel this year without actually leaving the country, you’ll be pleased to hear that two Ontario neighbourhoods have landed on a list of Canada’s trendiest places to stay this summer.

Airbnb just unveiled its list of Canada’s trendiest neighbourhoods to book a stay at this summer, and two Ontario spots, including one in Toronto and another in Ottawa, made the cut.

The online rental marketplace notes that bookings in 10 of Canada’s trendiest neighbourhoods are up nearly 180 per cent year-over-year. Airbnb also found that the typical guest in Canada spends over $300 per day, with 50 per cent of their spending done in the neighbourhood of their listing, thanks to local recommendations made by hosts.

At the #6 spot is none other than Toronto’s most eccentric neighbourhood: Kensington Market.

“If you like vintage shopping and mom-and-pop style restaurants, head to Kensington for an authentic Toronto experience,” local co-host Elisa says in the report.

“If you’re craving Jamaican food, walk along Baldwin St. and stop for an oxtail patty. For incredible tacos, August and Baldwin have an intersection full of some of the best spots in the city. There’s also a great gluten-free spot called Bunners, and you must grab a slice of pizza at Frank Ranalli’s! It has an old-school vibe right next to cool trinket shops.”

Next on the list at #7 is The Glebe, one of Ottawa’s most historic and affluent neighbourhoods.

“Guests can experience the energy of Lansdowne, explore local restaurants and shops, and walk along the Rideau Canal, all while staying in a neighbourhood that feels welcoming and connected,” Ottawa host Sean explains.

In 2025, Airbnb travel reportedly generated $10.9 billion in economic activity, thanks to Canadian hosts and their guests supporting local small businesses, independent retailers, and restaurants.

Here are the top 10 trendiest places to book a stay in Canada this summer, according to Airbnb:

  1. Hastings-Sunrise, Vancouver, B.C.
  2. North End, Kelowna, B.C.
  3. Shaganappi, Calgary, Alta.
  4. McKernan, Edmonton, Alta.
  5. Central St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Man.
  6. Kensington Market, Toronto, Ont.
  7. The Glebe, Ottawa, Ont.
  8. Le Mille Carré Doré (Golden Square Mile), Montreal, Que.
  9. Saint-Sauveur, Quebec City, Que.
  10. Downtown Halifax, Halifax, N.S.
