Norm Foster’s A Woman’s Love List opens this week at Lighthouse Festival (Port Dover Maple Leaf)

THEATREGOERS are in for more comedy as Norm Foster’s A Woman’s Love Listhits the Lighthouse Theatre stage in Port Dover on Wednesday, with an official opening night on Thursday. 

The playwright took his earlier work The Love List, where men identified the top 10 qualities they were looking for in women, and turned it upside down for this play. A Woman’s Love List focuses on two women—Carly, an organized sportswriter, and Megan, a jaded hairdresser—listing the qualities they are looking for in the perfect man before coming face-to-face with their creation. They don’t always agree. 

Lisa Horner, who audiences may have seen on stage in Mirvish productions of Come From Away, Kinky Boots, and Les Misérables, is directing the play, which marks her first time working with Lighthouse Festival.

Ms. Horner said she is enjoying working on this lady-centric show, which highlights female friendship. “It’s a beautiful thing,” she said. 

Other themes she pointed to in the play are the search for perfection and what it really looks like, and the idea of imperfect people looking for the perfect person. 

The two friends don’t always agree, and as the “perfect” guy mysteriously appears, the ladies’ love list changes, she shared. 
Ms. Horner is no stranger to Norm Foster’s plays, having performed in the Foster Festival in the past. She mentioned that Mr. Foster is famous for his one-liners and banter, but he always slips in some heartwarming moments too.

Ms. Horner is loving Port Dover and finds the Lighthouse creative team, stage manager and artistic director incredibly helpful and supportive.

In her long list of acting credits, which also includes The Odd Squad, Road to Avonlea and Guys and Dolls, one of her favourite highlights was performing in Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore in 2017 in a role that her mother had performed many years before.

Ms. Horner mentioned that Cole Munden, who plays Blaze, is hilarious representing the ideal man, who has to keep changing to fit the shifting perspectives of the women. Audiences may have seen Mr. Munden in the movie All I Didn’t Want for Christmas, the 2025 movie For the Boss and The Time to Kill television series. 

Stephanie Pitsiladis is Megan in A Woman’s Love List. Her acting credits include Mirvish’s Hairspray in multiple theatres, Mirvish’s Man of La Mancha as well as numerous roles at Drayton Theatre, Stage West, Rhubarb Productions and many more. 

Nicole Wilson, actress, director and theatre creator, plays Carly in the show. She has performed in a couple of seasons of The Good Witch, as well as extensive work in regional and independent theatres, and directed Phaedra’s Love at Stratford. 

The creative team for Lighthouse’s production of A Woman’s Love List includes Sara Allison, stage manager; Megan Cinel, set designer; Alex Amini, costume designer; Alex Sykes, lighting designer; Christina Pitts Jazzar, intimacy director; and Isabella Saranchuk, apprentice stage manager.
