CHICAGO – A woman is in custody after a 7-year-old girl was fatally stabbed Saturday on the South Side, according to Chicago police. What we know: Police say the girl was walking in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 11:55 a.m. when an adult woman approached her with a sharp object and stabbed her multiple times in the back. The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she died. She was later identified as Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
