Canada’s luxury retail scene is in for a big shake-up — Montreal-based e-commerce company Ssense filed for bankruptcy protection on Thursday. The platform has been an indie fashion favourite since it was founded in the early 2000s by the Atallah brothers, but the company has been hit hard by U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods (some hitting as high as 35 per cent), along with the sudden removal of the duty-free exemption for shipments under $800USD.
