Pizza Hut Is Bringing Back Its Free Pizza Rewards Program for Readers This Summer

9 June 20263 Mins Read

Before summer officially gets into full swing, Pizza Hut is leaning into nostalgia in a big way. The chain is launching a season-long celebration of some of its most memorable traditions, from classic restaurant experiences to fan-favorite promotions that many customers remember from childhood.

For generations of Americans, Pizza Hut wasn’t just a place to grab dinner. It was where birthday parties happened, arcade games were played, and rewards felt especially exciting. This summer, the company is shining a spotlight on one of its most beloved traditions, giving families a reason to get excited about reading again.

Pizza Hut Brings Back a Fan-Favorite Reading Reward

Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut has announced the return of its Book It! Summer of Stories program, allowing kids to earn free pizza by meeting reading goals throughout the summer.

The program is open to children in pre-K through sixth grade. Parents can use the Book It! app to set monthly reading goals during June, July and August. Once those goals are completed, participating kids can earn a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.

The promotion taps into a long-running tradition that dates back to 1984. For decades, Pizza Hut rewarded young readers through its Book It! program, making free pizza a powerful incentive for children to spend more time with books. Many adults still remember tracking their reading progress and proudly redeeming their rewards at their local Pizza Hut.

That nostalgia remains strong today, which is likely why Pizza Hut continues to see enthusiasm around the program. For many families, earning free pizza for reading feels like a simple but effective way to encourage healthy habits during summer break.

There’s Also a Special One-Day Free Pizza Giveaway

Pizza Hut is taking the nostalgia even further with a limited-time promotion aimed at longtime Book It! participants.

On June 10, customers who bring in an official Book It! button from any year can receive a free Personal Pan Pizza at participating Pizza Hut locations while supplies last. Whether the button dates back to the 1980s, ’90s or more recent years, Pizza Hut is inviting fans to relive one of the brand’s most memorable experiences.

The company is also partnering with Box Tops for Education this summer. Families who purchase the Book It! Family Meal can help earn money for local schools through the Box Tops program, adding an educational component to the promotion.

Between the return of Book It!, opportunities to earn free pizza and special throwback events, Pizza Hut is clearly betting that nostalgia still resonates with customers. For parents, it’s a chance to introduce a classic tradition to a new generation. For adults who grew up with the program, it may be the perfect excuse to revisit one of their favorite Pizza Hut memories while enjoying a little free pizza along the way.
