Popular Cruise Line Breaks Ground on Brand-New Bahamas Private Island

Located right next to Ocean Cay in The Bahamas, Sandy Cay is being designed exclusively for guests sailing aboard MSC Cruises and its ultra-luxury sister line, Explora Journeys. Rather than competing with the mega-amusement park islands, Sandy Cay is leaning straight into pure, secluded tranquility.

The island will feature five untouched beaches, crystalline waters, private oceanfront cabana retreats, elevated dining, and attentive seaside hospitality centered around wellness and calm. It’s built to complement Ocean Cay’s conservation-minded ethos, giving travelers an intimate, peaceful sanctuary where you can truly disconnect from the daily grind.

At the same time, Ocean Cay isn’t being left behind. MSC confirmed it’s rolling out thoughtful enhancements to its flagship reserve as well, introducing new dining spots, dedicated beach concepts for families and adults, expanded quiet lounge areas, and deeper marine-conservation experiences where guests can learn about the surrounding coral restoration efforts firsthand.
