The “Corridos Tumbados” revolution has officially reached the streaming world. We can confirm that Clika (2026), the debut feature film from trailblazing music producer Jimmy Humilde’s Rancho Humilde, is set to make its SVOD premiere on Netflix at the end of the month, just a couple of months after its theatrical premiere.
We can confirm that Clika (2026) will be available to stream on Netflix US starting Tuesday, March 31st, 2026.
Following its theatrical release in late January and subsequent VOD premiere, Clika is moving to Netflix as part of the streamer’s “Pay-1” output deal with Sony Pictures. While the film was a niche theatrical hit specifically for the Mexican-American community, its arrival on Netflix is expected to introduce the high-energy world of modern regional Mexican music to a global audience.
What is ‘Clika’ About?
The film stars trap-corrido sensation Jay Dee (frontman of Herencia de Patrones) as Chito, an aspiring small-town musician working the peach orchards of Yuba City, California. After a video of him performing one of his raw, street-infused tracks goes viral, Chito is catapulted into the cutthroat world of the Mexican-American music scene.
However, the American Dream comes with a price. To fund his family’s survival and his own rise to stardom, Chito gets entangled in a dangerous game involving drug trafficking and old-world rivalries. It is a story of ambition, cultural pride, and the heavy moral cost of “making it out.”
It must be said there’s a night and day difference between critics and audiences on this one. On RottenTomatoes, the numbers are stark with a 10% score from critics (albeit based on 10 reviews). Carla Hay for Culture Mix said, “Clika is an amateurish drama that wants desperately to be like Eminem’s 8 Mile, but it’s as appealing as a rusty microphone. This story (about a wannabe music star caught up in drug dealing) has stale clichés. The acting performances are stiff.”
Rafer Guzman was even more critical, saying, “Latin music overall is surely one of the most vibrant genres around, but watching ‘Clika,’ the first feature-film produced by the upstart music label Rancho Humilde, you wouldn’t know it.”
The audience score sits at 91% (IMDb is 4.4), with most reviews focusing on the musical performances and representation.
