Nobu Hospitality and Salboy have started construction on a new skyscraper in Manchester, featuring a hotel, restaurant, and branded residences.
Nobu Hospitality and Salboy have commenced construction of a new skyscraper in Manchester, marking the start of the Nobu Manchester project. The development will include a 160-room hotel, a Nobu restaurant, and 452 branded residences. The tower is projected to reach 246 meters, making it the tallest building in the UK outside London upon its expected completion in 2031.
The project is a collaboration between Nobu Hospitality, Salboy, and construction firm Domis. The site is located on a 40,500-square-foot brownfield in Manchester’s city center. The development aims to integrate modern architecture with the city’s industrial heritage, using the site’s original Grade II-listed Victorian viaduct arches as part of the design.
The Nobu restaurant will be situated on the ground floor, offering Japanese cuisine. The residences will feature Japanese-inspired interiors and amenities, including a swimming pool, a podium garden, and a gym. Sales for the residences are anticipated to begin in 2026.
This project represents Nobu Hospitality’s first venture into the UK’s branded residences market. The development is part of a broader effort to enhance Manchester’s skyline and provide new living and dining options in the city.
Construction enabling works have already started, with full construction expected to commence next year. The development is part of Salboy’s ongoing efforts to contribute to Manchester’s urban regeneration.
