Skydance Animation’s ‘Swapped’ Adds Four To Cast As May 2026 Netflix Premiere Set

We finally have a release date for Swapped, the highly anticipated second animated feature from Skydance Animation, coming exclusively to Netflix in May 2026, and it is one of two from the studio dropping on Netflix throughout 2026, with the other being Ray Gunn, expected in the latter months of the year.

If you were scrolling through your feeds late last night, you might have caught a glimpse of a certain leaked poster making the rounds. Well, Netflix officially stepped in this morning to confirm the rumors, drop the official teaser art, and reveal that Swapped will make its global debut on May 1, 2026.

But that’s not all. The press release also brought some massive casting news, expanding an already star-studded lineup.

Here is everything we know about Swapped.

The Cast: Who is Joining the Valley?

We already knew that Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple were leading the film, alongside comedy heavyweights Tracy Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer.

However, today’s announcement puts a major spotlight on three incredible new voice cast additions who are officially joining the wild ecosystem:

• Justina Machado (One Day at a Time, The Horror of Dolores Roach) as Calli
• Ambika Mod (One Day, This Is Going to Hurt) as Violet
• Lolly Adefope (Ghosts, Miracle Workers) as Lily
• Táta Vega (Singer/songwriter) as Grandma

Violet and Lily are the two sisters of Juno Temple’s Ivy. Calli is the mother of Michael B. Jordan’s character. 

What is Swapped About?

The film follows a body-swap trope (with a slight twist, since they’re not actually swapping bodies, so to speak, but rather transforming into other creatures) but sets it in a completely untamed, nature-doc-inspired setting.

Here is the official logline provided by Netflix:

“A buddy comedy about a small woodland creature (voiced by Michael B. Jordan) and a majestic bird (voiced by Juno Temple) — natural sworn enemies of The Valley — who suddenly swap bodies and must team up (while walking in each other’s feathers and fur) to survive the wildest adventure of their lives.”

Director Nathan Greno (Tangled) also shared a quote this morning, shedding some light on the bizarre and vibrant world the Skydance Animation team has built:

“Swapped is a body-swap movie unlike anything audiences have seen before. In this world, the creatures of the valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem. At the center of the film is the smallest creature in the valley, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who suddenly finds himself swapped into a completely different body and thrust into a massive, unpredictable world that turns his entire life upside down and forces him to experience life from a completely different perspective.”

Behind the scenes, Swapped boasts an impressive creative team led by director Nathan Greno, who also shares story by credits with John Whittington, Adam Karp, and the writing duo of Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow. The official screenplay was penned by Whittington, Magalhaes, and Snow. Producing the animated feature for Skydance Animation are John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews, with composer Siddhartha Khosla attached to provide the film’s music.

With the May 1st release date locked in, we can expect a full official trailer to drop very soon. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one as we get closer to the Spring!
