Sonny Can’t Dance steakhouse from Paris, Texas team offers butler service and chance to eat for $1, Canada Reviews

7 August 20262 Mins Read

Toronto’s King West neighbourhood is getting a new steakhouse from a team behind some of the entertainment district’s most popular clubs. And it comes with a very different personality.

Sonny Can’t Dance is a new restaurant from Municipal Goods, the hospitality group that operates nightlife spots such as Paris Texas, Whitestone Ranch, and Small Talk Jazz. It’s scheduled to open this month with a colourful design, creative menu and a more, well, fun take on the traditional steakhouse experience.

Sonny Can’t Dance takes over the former Pizza Wine Disco space at 788 King St. W.

Unlike traditional formal steakhouse dining, the restaurant’s vibe includes bold colours, gingham patterns and retro-inspired details. It’s a mash-up of eras designed to not take itself too seriously.

Steaks are the centrepiece of the menu, designed by culinary director Afrim Pristine, with beef sourced from Ontario’s Bielak Farms and dry-aged through Cheese Boutique. The restaurant focusses on carefully curated small cuts, including a Japanese Wagyu A5 striploin priced at $88.

“A great steakhouse should always begin with exceptional beef, but today’s guests want more choice,” says Pristine. “Whether someone joins us for Wagyu, oysters, handmade pasta or simply Champagne and dessert, every dish receives the same level of care and is meant to be shared. That’s what a modern steakhouse means to me.”

There is much more than steak on the menu, however. Diners can also opt for sushi, raw bar selections, a prime beef burger, Wagyu Philly cheesesteak, vodka pasta, pizza and a rotating catch of the day. Fussy eaters rejoice.

The seafood menu includes dishes such as ahi tuna with Thai chili and ponzu, along with salmon sashimi served with salsa verde.

What sets the new spot apart from the crowd, is its own butler service. Sonny’s Butler Service offers bespoke tasting menus and private driver coordination to make that special night out much easier. Paid valet parking is also available.

For diners looking for a little excitement, Sonny Can’t Dance will offer a weekly promotion on Wednesdays.

Guests can roll a single die, and anyone who rolls a one can receive their entire bill for just $1.
