Tech-Related Resolutions for the Whole Family (VIDEO), Best TV Shows to Binge Watch

13 January 20262 Mins Read

According to the site YouGov, the top New Year’s Resolution for 2026 is “exercising more.” In fact, four of the year’s top 10 resolutions relate to physical health: Others include “eating healthier” (No. 3), “improving physical health” (No. 5) and “losing weight” (No. 6). Mental health made its appearance on the list, too, with “being happy” listed at No. 2 and “improving mental health” clocking in at No. 7.

Oh, also worth noting, “praying more” was 10th on the list.

Now, we know that lots of people have already given up on those well-meaning resolutions—and if they haven’t, odds are they will. About 80% of folks chuck resolutions to the curb by mid-February, according to U.S. News and World Report.

So, if you resolved—or would simply like—to be physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, and if you’d like to push your kids and teens to do the same, Plugged In has a super-easy suggestion for you: Check out our Parents Guide to Technology 2026.

Granted, the easy part is downloading the guide. Implementing good, common-sense guardrails around technology and social media can be quite hard. But we give you plenty of pragmatic advice on what to do and how to make it stick.

And I promise that it won’t be wasted effort. One of the biggest obstacles to physical health is screen time. One of the biggest hurdles to mental health can be social media. We dive into that and much, much more in our 125-page tech guide. And if you’re not convinced yet, listen to me, Bret Eckelberry and Emily Tsiao talk about it during this week’s ever-scintillating roundtable discussion.
